I am Number Four ( 2011 )

The movie opens with a hunt , and the victim is Number Three . The plot continues that , Number four is aware of the demise of the first three , and he knows he is next . With his protector's guidance, ( a Cêpan , for those of you wanting to learn the LINGO ) they are on the run to a new town , a new school , new friends and bad guys hot on their tails . So the chase is on and story is predictable .

When buying the tickets , the female cashier warned us , and told us not to bother . Her actual words were "A Big man like you would not want to see that " .

Then while inside , on the way in to the theater , ran into a friend , who say her friends walked out on the film .

So when I sat down , I was ready for a REAL BOMB , however I was satisfied after wards with the normal junk food movie produced by Hollywood .

The problem was not the story , or the special effects ; it was the thin story and cheap special effects .

The Good Guys and the Bad Guys are from planets far, far away . They were involved in a war between the races . A War scene that is never seen , and would have cost money . For reference pull out the T2 : Judgement Day DVD , and watch the opening sequence between mankind and the machine army . This could have setup in the audience minds , the ability to accept the story .

The absence of this sci-fi homeworld world war scene , gave the story a real thin layer . You had to really work to suspense your dis-belief .

Super-powers young person smacked of "Smallville" , and there is no KRISTEN KRUEK to help the story along , just some high-school blond .

Many friends and family of who I spoke to dis-liked the film . However . . . . the audience target is not in my friends and family range .

The release of the film , between Harry Potter 7.1 and 7.2 , and before the Twilight 4.1 and 4.2 , should be an indication of whom they are targeting : They are trying to past the torch , from one TWEEN book series movie franchise to another TWEEN book series movie franchise .

The listing says the book is the first of six , and by the time we reach the sixth movie , we may have a major franchise on our hands . Are story writers are going for a Space Age Harry Potter , will we return to Krypton and take revenge and liberate our world ?

There is a lot of story line to fill in , alot of background to go through . Special Effects companies be on the alert . We could go into a all out work horse here to give Star Wars a run for their money , action figures and all .

But this is not " A New Hope " .

The major thing as the credits rolled is the name "Micheal Bay" , With Transformers 3 in the can and due for release soon , if he seeks to role over this into s success full franchise , he better start planning from now .

The Season Of The Witch - (2011)

The Season of the Witch seems like a Medieval Historical tale out of the Dark Ages blended into an action movie starring Nicholas Cage, Ron Perlman as two Knights and Clair Foy as the resident witch all thrown into a callaloo soup of black plague and disease and death.Directed by Domonic Sena.

Honestly this movie is so predictable and boring from the on set you already get an idea of the ending of the movie within the first twenty minutes of it beginning, fortunately I had an incentive to stay.
The story starts with a witchcraft obsessed Priest who leads the Knights to slaughter innocent women and children after which they abscond their duty to the knighthood.

Essentially What you get is a Witch in a cage playing mind games with the Knights for the whole road to the monastery and grotesque looking disease suffers that could make Lady Gaga look pretty and the quest to find the Key of Solomon.

I would say it's rubbish but the theme in this movie seems to be recycle.

Black Swan ( 2011 )

Black Swan is a psycho sexual thriller starring Natalie Portman as Nina a dancer in the New York Ballet Company.

The company is preparing for a production of Swan Lake and the Director needs a new Principal dancer as the star Beth is retiring. The lead must be able to portray both the innocent white swan and the evil black swan. Nina is selected to compete for the part along with newcomer in the ballet company Lily. Nina goes to see the director to ask him for the role but he tells he although she will make an excellent white swan her lack of passion will not make her suitable for the black swan role. He forces a kiss on her and she bites him which makes him see some potential for being dark so he gives her the role. Lily is cast as her understudy.

During rehearsals Nina is excellent as the white swan but a poor black swan the director tell her she has to stop being so rigid and lose herself in the black swan role.

Nina becomes paranoid that Lily wants to take the lead role from her and starts to hallucinate and become delusional.
One night Lily shows up by Nina’s door and invites her to go out for drinks. At first Nina refuses but after a fight with her controlling mother she goes out with Lily. Lily offers Nina drugs which lower her inhibitions and she becomes sexually aroused. When they return to the apartment they lock themselves in Nina’s room and have passionate sex.

Nina wakes up late for her rehearsal and when she arrives she sees Lily playing the Swan Queen. She confronts Lily and asked why she didn’t wake her up. Lily says she spent the night with a guy and not at Nina’s, it is revealed that Nina was hallucinating.

The night before the opening night Nina rehearses late and continues to hallucinate, at home she imagines the paintings on the wall mocking her and she sees little black growths on her back, when she pulls them out it appears to be feathers. Her eyes turn blood red and her legs contort like those of a swan, she falls and knocks herself out on her bedpost.

She awakes the night of her performance locked in her bedroom by her mother who said she called the dance company and told them she is unwell and will not be able to perform. She physically fights with her mother and heads to the show where the Director has asked Lily to take over the role; Nina disregards this and tells Thomas she is able to perform.

During the first act Nina is distracted and the Prince drops her, she returns to the dressing room and finds Lily dressed in the Black Swan costume. A fight ensues where Lily changes form from herself to Nina, Nina and her double battle where Nina pushes her against a mirror which shatters, she then takes up a piece of glass and stabs her, the body then changes back to Lily and Nina hides the body.

She dances the black swan passionately imagining black feathers growing all over her body and her arms becoming wings. She receives a standing ovation from the audience.

Back in her dressing room she is preparing for the final act when someone knocks on the door, it is Lily who comes to congratulate her on her performance. She realizes the fight was another hallucination and sees a wound on her body and realized that she stabbed herself. She stills performs the final act where she dances passionately as the dying white swan. In the last scene when she throws herself of a cliff the theatre erupts in applause and the cast comes to congratulate her on her performance. Lily sees Nina wound, Nina lies wounded saying “I was perfect”.

This was one of the most overhyped movies; I think the billing was wrong- a Psycho Sexual thriller, there was nothing either thrilling or sexual about the film except for the imagined lesbian scene.

Although Natalie Portman looked the part of a Ballerina maybe through a strict diet the story line did not call for her to do much as an actress. She just had to play a sad girl with a controlling mother and look fearful. Even her innocence and naiveté was annoying -you can’t be that perfect.

I won’t recommend paying the money to see but if you are the artsy type and wish to see a Ballet it’s probably worth a look just don’t expect much.

127 Hours ( 2010 )

Every so often ,something exceeding stupid happens to someone , you see it all the time on YouTube or America's funniest Home Videos . Someone trips and falls down the stairs , gets hit in the private areas , and so on . The thing is , you never ever really think , that person is going to be you .

Welcome "Aron Ralston" , mountain climber / idiot / hero , he get trapped , and must come to terms with the actions he must take to survive . Cutting off part of his arm .

The funny thing about the story is, it is so stupid . I can only wonder is there some guy out there DEAD under a rock , cause he did not have a knife or the courage to cut of a limb .

Danny Boyle is a A-Class director and it shows in the film . James Franco again a great actor has done great acting .

But the story sucks , a book yes , morning talk shows yes , but movie , this is a define NO . For some reason the story failed to connect with me , and the high ratings on other movie review site make we wonder , what am I missing ?

He is really not a likable person , and the rock does a very poor acting job .

Nominated for six Academy Awards , Best Actor , Best Picture , Best Adapted Screenplay , Best Film Editing , Best Original Score and Best Original Song .

GO FIGURE ! ! !

The Rite ( 2011 )

A young man disillusioned enters the seminary , this starts the audience down the road of disbelief , looking for his way through life .

In an attempt to get out while the get out is good , he is send off to the Vatican , on a course on exorcism .

Still a doubter , he is then passed on again to a third priest , Father Lucas .

This is actually where the story begins , the believer and the non-believer . The master of knowledge versus the master of faith . There is a logical explanation for everything versus we know so little of the spiritual world . And the battle begins . . . .

But of course , faith stumbles , with a lost of life . And as almost , the modern world view wins , he stumbles too.

The two must together , and overcome "the Rite" .

Most of the online discussions are whether or not this is a "Horror" movie . The content for the movie certainly falls into the category of horror , but if you were looking for "spinning heads" or "pea soup" you would be disappointed . To be quite honest , I jump three times during the film , mostly because I had accepted the story and was going along with it , when the movie monster jumps at the priest .

Anthony Hopkins plays the wise old hermit priest , Father Lucas , who you want to like , and you want to see live at the end . It is a far throw from him "Hannibal Lecturer" portrait .

Colin O'Donoghue has little to play with character wise , the acting is 2 - Dimensional , because the character is 2 - dimensional , the typical love interest does not play off due to his training as a priest . He wants to be a priest , he does not want to be a priest .

Marta Gastini makes her english-speaking debut , and I hope everytime people film in Italy , they cast in the movie .

Italy itself is a major character in the film , look out for it in the background , coffee shops , streets , the Colosseum and the Vatican .

The Film is well worth watching , at home on cable , rent the dvd or in the cinema , nothing in the film would be missed on the small screen .

The King's Speech ( 2010 )

Prince Albert, Duke of York ( played by Colin Firth ) is doomed to become King of England , when his brother abdicates the throne . He does not know he is to become King , but as Prince he must still speak in public , which he is unable to do .

The Duchess of York ( Helena Bonham Carter ) thee ever faithful and supportive wife ( younger people know her as "Queen Mum" ) , seeks out the Lionel Logue ( Geoffrey Rush ) , a "Doctor" of Linguistics . After all others have failed .

Having taken on the Royal patient , much time is spend getting over the protocol , and enforcing the patient/doctor relationship .

As things start to unravel in the Royal household , Lionel Logue challenges Prince Albert , to become the man , stepping up to a destiny brought upon him by his brother's u-turn in life . Prince Albert does not take to the advice too well .

Eventually the two come to terms with each other , only to be challenged by Royal Politics .

The story speaks to two characters support to King George VI , speech therapist Lionel Logue and wife Queen Elizabeth . These two give great measure and success to the reign of King George VI , before and after he becomes King .

To speak for the acting and the directing , I should say the film deserves every award and nomination it has received , from the Toronto film Festival, BAFTA and the Oscars .

Look out for Albus Dumbledore, Michael Gambon as King George V .

I had plan on skipping this film , but a night out at a restaurant with my parents , led us off to the cinema ; and I let them pick the film .

The show is well worth the ticket price , and should be seen by all .

The lessons that rich people have problems too , and have to work to overcome them is lost by most of the population .

I did get lost sometimes , in short discussions about the Royal Family ; though i was aware of the Madness of King George III , the lost of Prince Albert's brother at age 13 , I had missed in my history reading . Yet it maybe the first film in a long time to make the Royal Family appear almost human , instead of the blue blood / aristocrats , portrait elsewhere .

Little Fockers ( 2010 )

The sequel to Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers .

This upsets Greg who tells the family Jack had a heart attack two weeks ago.

Greg spends the night away from home; Andi visit with wine and gets drunk and kisses Greg which Jack sees.
The next day at the kids’ birthday party Jack and Greg get in a fight where Jack goes into cardiac arrest again, they eventually make up where Jack says it was always Greg and never Bob who should be the Patriarch.

Greg’s parents had minor roles in this part as his Mom is a talk show host and his dad went to Spain to learn Flamenco dancing. They both however attend the twins birthday party
Part three had a similar storyline to part one- the same mistrust between Jack and Greg; Kevin’s obsession with Pam. Jack stalking Greg.

There were some good laughs and funny situation, good if you bored and have nothing else to do; I would recommend waiting for the DVD

The Dilemma ( 2011 )

The Dilemma : is about two life long friends and business partners -Ronny and Nick. Ronny has a gambling problem and a fear of commitment but is in a long term relationship with Beth . Nick is married to Geneva .

When they score a deal with General Motors’ Geneva suggests to Ronny that Beth is as good as it gets and he should propose to her . Ronny agrees and tells Nick he got a deal which will allow him to purchase a $20,000 ring for $10,000 .

Ronny wants the perfect proposal and goes to a botanic garden where he sees Geneva kissing another guy . Of course he falls into poisonous plants and concocts a lie when Beth asks him about it . She becomes suspicious when the $10,000 falls out his pocket .

Ronny confronts Geneva and it is revealed they have a history together before she met Nick which they kept a secret from Beth and Nick . Geneva threatens to tell Nick and Beth that Ronny made moves on her and that he is lying, Geneva also says Nick has been neglecting her and visiting massage parlours .

Ronny follows both Nick (where he confirms Nick visits a Vietnamese massage parlour) and Geneva where he sees she and Zip having sex . He takes some pictures for proof to give to Nick but he is caught by Zip after Geneva leaves and a fight ensues .

Ronny gives a very inappropriate speech at Beth’s parents 40th wedding anniversary which makes everyone suspicious .

Nick follows Ronny when he goes at Zip’s to ask for his camera . Zip holds a gun and cries for his fish and demands $10,000. Ronny gives him $1000 which nick sees .

When Ronnie gets home that night there is an intervention as they all assume he has started to gamble again and that Zip is his bookie - Nick , Beth , his sister , Geneva and even zip are all present with a therapist .

All is revealed at the intervention .

The movie is a funny plot - a comedy of errors, and really begs the question what do you do when if you find out a friend’s spouse is cheating?

Queen Latifah has a small but funny role as an alpha female GM executive and Channing Tatum captures Zip’s bad boy with an inner sensitivity perfectly .

Although it is a comedy Jennifer Connelly captures the role well but shows that her genre should really be drama and independent films, the role was too simple for an actress of that standing.
The film is worth seeing .

The Mechanic ( 2011 )

The Mechanic , stars Jason Statham as "The Transporter" fella , actually his name is Arthur Bishop , but it did not really make any difference . I am afraid Jason Statham is type-casted and that is that .

Anyways , is only after leaving the cinema with MOM , she says she has seen it before . Naturally I do not believe her ; after years and years i should know better ; and a visit to old IMDB proves her right again , Charles Bronson no less . Though mom swore the movie was "Death Wish" , we determine that it was in fact The Mechanic ( 1972 ) .

Anyways , movie starts and Jason Statham is Arthur Bishop , a Hit man for hire . We all know Hit Man for hire , Take one contract , take another so on and so on it is life .

Then the Company has to do some internal cleaning , then the internal cleaning gets messy . And we all develop a conscience . Then we all have to make amends . Train the orphan , and the orphan screws up , and then the penny drops .

The Internal cleaning is a hoax , and the bad guy is the good guy and the good guy is the bad guy ; and now we need to go for Revenge . After just teaching our orphan Revenge gets you killed . BLah BLah BLah BLah ! ! !

BLuring the Line between right and wrong , business and pleasure , que sera sera .

Gun battles a blazing , would make any cowboy western proud . Yet this does not allow the great Jason Statham's mixed martial arts to be seen , and the few hand to hand sequences are poorly cut and unpleasant to watch . Begging the question is Jason Statham getting too old to do fight scenes ?

Ben Foster , i am afraid , plays out like a poor man's Edward Norton . The orphan does not develop sympathy in the situation and thus leaving Statham in the Hero role .

a BIG UP , to Mini Anden , I hope to see more of her, in more movies , or in the flesh .

Basically an effect movie , but nothing worth going to pay ticket price for , unless the boys want to go out for the night and then go out for beer afterwards .

TRON ( 2010 )

TRON ( 2010 ) : What do you write about a sequel done 28 years after the first movie ?

" POWER TO THE USERS "

After the first film , Kevin Flynn spends time going into "the GRID" and out in the real world . Building "the GRID" inside , but in 1989 , he failed to return .

Now his son is looking for him , Sam Flynn , naturally entering the "the GRID" .

So there is RINZLER , CLU , QUORRA , CASTOR , ZUSE , TRON .

Basically the USER , Kevin Flynn has lost control of "the GRID" and CLU has taken over . So much for storyline .

Special Effect , YES go see it in 3D , YES go see it in iMax , YES GO AND SEE IT .
Finally in the last 12 months, with the resurgence of 3D , this is the film that makes it worth while . I expect alot more from the science fiction in 3D and with this film , expect a onslaught of copycats .

Could the action sequences be better ? YES .

But the movie is a must-see on the large screen in 3D , the Blu-Ray or DVD is just not going to cut it this time around .

Trailer #1 and #2

The Warrior's Way ( 2010 )

THE WARRIOR'S WAY , written and directed by Snmgoo Lee is set against a unique background of an old west town, whose residents are all circus performers. This is a really fancinating idea which he did not use to the it's fullest potential as he seemed to want to be the Quentin Tarantino of the old west and gives us lots of GUTS and GLORY .

Again we get a Sexually repressed Ninja as the leading man . . . . . . . . . . . how the population of China passed a billion is a mystery .

Who would pass up the chance to be with a fiery , sexy and always breathlessKate Bosworth ? ? ?

Snmgoo Lee brings in the gang of outlaws in the typical way , with no circus man able to stand up to them . . . . . . . . . . . . who been watching too many old westerns ? ? ?

The Outlaws return and all hell breaks loose .

Finally some action , but then the ninjas show up and join in so , we are given everything . . . . . . . . . . . . . . six shooters , dynamite , snipers , swordfighting and ninjas floating through the air .

As he snubs the western audience he gives two endings , or is he having one for the west and one for the east . . . . I was left wondering .

This is an enjoyable filmif taken at face value . But , is comical in it's approach .

HereAfter ( 2011 )

Hereafter is a story of three people , the survivor , the left behind and the communicator . Surviving a near-death experience , and left-behind by a sibling and rejecting a gift , these three individuals are unable to move on in life .

Death haunts each of them in their own way , and each seeks their own way out of the shadow that has been casted over them . Yet , after watching the film , one must ask , DID I CARE ?

Everyday each one of us in our own life struggle to overcome what has happen before and what is going to come ? Why does this film reach out and want us to care .
The story follows the model of "WAR and PEACE" and the 1984 Mini-series V . Each of the characters tell their own story and it has nothing to do with each other , and the writer then very effectively pull all into spitting distance of each other , only to flee each others company . Of course persistent and dedication results in the happliy ever after ending .

Matt Damon , maintains his acting and plays the role perfectly as it is written . Though not an oscar winning performance , one can see the direct influence of veteran Clint Eastwood on the screen .

Cécile de France , is also made for the role , the casting director is due for raise , her role as French Journalist , fits her like a glove .

Bryce Dallas Howard , her departure from the film is done as quick as she enter , but her part is essential in giving Matt Damon the personality of a damage person , only after exposing her characters deep dark secret .

Clint Eastwood , is not getting any awards for this , but he has made a good film , three different people , from three different cultures , have come together and repaired themselves . Basically re-telling the myth that there is someone out there for everyone . A love story in disguise .

Definitely a first date movie .

The Green Hornet ( 2011 )

The Green Hornet ( 2011 ) in 3-D : The movie is based on a 1930s Radio program and then 1960s TV show with Bruce Lee . Now the 2011 , the Movie .

However we face the same slapstick , "make it funny" as of most of the reboots of the 21st Century , following on Charlie's Angels , Starsky and Hutch and so on , it is funny . However the saving grace is that is it is an action movie too . Not the Charlie's Angels funny or Starsky and Hutch funny . It is Seth Rogen funny .

So basically your like or dis-like of this movie balances on the question : Do you Like Seth Rogen ?

Jay Chou is relegated to Straight Man , playing Abbott to Setn's Costello , and takes the role of action hero , with most of the stunts falling to him . Leaving him the more favored character throughout the movie .

Cameron Diaz , in all her beauty appears , but that is about the length of it . She plays the love interest , of whom I do not know . But fails to have a purpose in the film , and leaves one wondering if she is hoping for more in a sequel , playing a Villian QUEEN BEE .

Battlestar Galactica fans would be please to see Edward James Olmos , playing the newspaper mentor . However not fulling his full acting potential , mostly due to the small part .

Was it worth the 3D ? I am hard press to site a scene where the 3D made the film better than the normal 2D . Some smoke and glass were flying around , and made me blink twice , but that was about it .

I expect the film to be as popular as the original TV series , and break even enough to spawn the sequel , and with a dry spell in the cinema , this could do the job of filling quite a few seats . But a CLASSIC , no .

The Movie Keeps begging the question, TO SPOOF or NOT TO SPOOF ?

IF you are a fan of the original , by all means go and see it on the big screen, but for the rest of us , it is just a night out of the house .

The Town ( 2010 )

The Town (2010) : This Bank Robbery Flick , Came on in September 17th 2010 , and i gave it a miss . I skipped it mostly because Ben Affleck was in it , and he directed it too , and I have become fed up of being disappointed by him .

However I caught in on the DVD , and what pleasantly surprise , the film though not FRESH , holds it own against many other films . The characters were real , bay guys and good guys , the female lead plays simple bank manager , ignorant of her surroundings .

During the course of three bank robberies in the film , the tension , drama and action is consistent and well worth watching . Watch for the car chase in the second bank robbery .

The Criminals are true to their nature , almost to the point of making them the anti-heroes of the film. The FBI agent chasing them is far less interesting , boring to the point of making the catching of the criminals un-important. So when the leading lady takes an interest in both a criminal and the FBI agent , no one wants her to end up with the FBI agent.

Gulliver's Travels (2010)

Gulliver's Travels 3D, this movie based on the 18th century book of the same name , comes with the "modern" twist . Lemuel Gulliver is a loser , and cheats his way into a promotion , and as karma would have it , get into trouble . So now he lies to get out of trouble , and get into more trouble . Moral of the story "Do Bad, Be Bad, and Bad will come to you." But of course, the hero learns his lesson and get the girls and we all live happliy ever after in the end. *** Phooey ***

Jack Blacks plays , well Jack Black , he is suppose to play Lemuel Gulliver , but as with all movie Jack Black is Jack Black . At this point of the decade , i am wondering, how long will the public maintain him as a Leading Man . I have come to the conclusion that Jack can not Act . Moving into the genre of children's movie will not expand his mass appeal or resurrect his failing career.

Billy Connolly and Amanda Peet , despite there great acting ability were unable to save the film . The Humour was enough to sink the film .

The film plays out a normal sequence of events .

Special Effects : 3D film , gave the movie depth that the acting clearing could not .Watch out for the 3D Ocean scene , with flash back to "the Perfect Storm" . After that it is an exercise in practice , with the 3D not establishing the presence or reflecting the size difference need for the story.

Basically the movie was like junk food , you feel you have eaten a meal , yet you are not quite satisfied , and left you feeling for more . Had the film be planned and thought out , it may have reflected some of the original ideas brought out by the book . The battles of little people , little politics and little ideas . The praising of Big people , with no ideas and no leadership skills.

Megamind (2010)

Release date: 5 November 2010

Rated: 8/10

The film revolves around the tale of two alien babies who make their way to earth. Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) is mostly misunderstood and decides to be a super villain and his enemy and superhero Metro Man (voiced by Brad Pitt). The tale begins with Metro Man landing by a Rich family and growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Megamind on the other hand landed in a jail yard and was raised by criminals.

Megamind revolves his life around destroying Metro Man but his plans are predictable and never work. So he is shocked when he finally succeeds in his diabolical plan and becomes
the ruler of Metro City. At first he is extremely happy and uses the city as his play ground. He later realizes that his life lacks purpose now that he has achieved his life goal of destroying Metro Man and he becomes very bored.

Megamind concocts a plan to create a new Metro Man by fusing some of Metro Man’s DNA with an ordinary citizen. He chooses the camera man of Roxanne Ritchi (voiced by Tina Fey and a reporter he has a crush on). This new found hero is known as Titan (voiced by Jonah Hill). Megamind hopes that Titan would challenge him much as Metro Man does but Titan is more interested in being a super villain as a love triangle ensues between Megamind, Roxanne and Titan.

Megamind now finds himself in a dilemma, he must give up his super villain ways and become Metro City’s super hero. The battle is on and Megamind has the help of his faithful Minion (voiced by David Cross) who has been with him since childhood.

The 3D effects of the movie were good and the movie was quite enjoyable. It is comedic and also gives the audience some life lessons on satisfaction and the “grass being greener on the other side”. This movie can be enjoyed by both adults and children equally. The audience could relate to the characters and feel for their personal situations. You won't regret watching this movie and you would get some laughs along the way.

Tangled (2010)

Release Date: 24 November 2010

Rated: 9/10

This movie is Disney’s remake of the old fairytale of Rapunzel and was a great twist on the childhood story. Going to the show as an adult you may think that there is nothing to offer. As the movie is rated PG and it is not like other animations today where there is a subliminal adult undertone. The movie is a children’s movie but it is not only limited to children. It is quite entertaining to children and adults alike and you would not regret going to see this movie.

The film is based around Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) who is stuck in a tower all her life. Unknowing to herself she is a princess who was stolen at birth by the person she believes to be her mother because of her magic hair. Her only friend is that of a chameleon named Pascal who stays with her in the tower day and night. Rapunzel longs to go beyond the tower and see what is out in the real world but her mother knowing that she is indeed the lost princess forbids her from leaving the tower.

The leading hero in the movie is that of Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi) who is in fact a thief on the run. He climbs up into Rapunzel’s tower to get away from the police and a pesky and persistent police horse named Maximus. This is where the hero and heroine meet. They go on a journey that is full of ups and downs, twists and turns to the palace to see the lights (that are only sent out on Rapunzel’s birthday in search of her) and along the way they fall in love.

Toward the end of the story Rapunzel has to choose between her freedom and her love.

The movie is a great one to see, there is chemistry between the characters and the audience could relate to every character of the film. The film has some musicals but none are tacky and all fit well into the story line making it even more enjoyable to see. The 3D effects in the movie are quite good (especially the scene with the floating lanterns). This movie is definitely a must see and gets two thumbs up. It is a lot of fun, adventurous and quite comedic. I strongly recommend that everyone go watch this film.

A Tangled World: Creating the Look

How Do You Know (2010)

How Do You Know is a romantic comedy , that is without the romance or the comedy .

The Romance is suppose to rotate around professional baseball player Lisa Jorgenson, an executive George Madison and a major-league pitcher "Matty".

The Love Triangle storyline does not seem to work mostly because the characters are not in love . Lisa and Matty are together from before the begining of the film , so we never see them meet , they only seem to be together due to the fact that they are both professionals in the same sport. Should they wed and move on in life , to expect the children to dominate the sport of Baseball . George Madison, however is around taking advantage of the rocky relationship between Lisa and Matty .

The Comedy comes from situation to situation , and is never the same format twice . Witty comments lead to Revealing Facts to MisSpoken words to Misunderstandings , and rather than being a smooth comedy , the audience is unaware of what is going to be thrown at them next .

To add to the mayhem , everyone is in a CRISIS mode , with Lisa being dropped from her team , George begin charge with a federal crime , and Matty trying to have; what appears to be his first or last "SERIOUS" relationship in his life with Lisa . Meanwhile George's Father Charles Madison, played by Jack Nicholson, is trying to keep his son out of jail , for good measure.

The problem is the CRISIS mode , plays as a back drop for the romance , it is never really addressed , and is never really resolved . While the romance playing the lead in the storyline , has everyone confused and off-balanced . Social issues learnt by most of us , by our first loves and high school romances , were skipped over by all of the love triangle characters . Characters being in their 30s , but behaving like this is their first time in a romantic relationship , is not bought by the audience . The level of maturity for people in their 30s is not there .

UnStoppable (2010)

UNSTOPPABLE : Tells the tale of a couple of Every Men , not Police , not Firemen , but Railway Men , Frank Barnes and Will Colson . Who decide the best thing is to get out the way of a runaway train . Only to watch it past by and then decide to chase it down and stop it .

The plot line though simple , runs along the normal cinematic track. Incompetent worker screws up , Disaster situation endures , Jeopardy eminent , Hero saves the day .

Denzel Washington plays Frank Barnes, a old standing Railway Man , intelligent in his knowledge of operations of the system. Humble in his approach to things , but expects everyone to do their job.

Chris Pine plays Will Colson, the young rookie, he has done the course work, qualified and family connected . The first day on the job , the "OLD MAN" Frank Barnes shows him up. The decision making process seem to be over written by environmental conditions, and the young man becomes quickly frustrated .

Well as the Crisis come and then escalates , this Odd Couple becomes the Team. Performing Heroic Act after Act . Until they save the day .

With Supporting Role from Rosario Dawson , as the tech person in the booth , the film provide the normal roller-coast ride of an action film , without the emotional attachment . Had everyone died in the film , I might have left the cinema more satisfied. The drama of the heroic acts; hardly seem dangerous , the heroes are never in jeopardy, and the woo-ing and ah-ing of the wife and children watching over live television, provides the emotions of Saturday Night Boxing .

The film gets a pass as an Action film , but is doomed to be relegated to late night cable television.

The Tourist (2010)

The TOURIST : This American remake of the French Film , is pitched to the public as a Thriller film, but plays out more like the final act of a Heist Film.

There was absolutely nothing Thrilling about the film's story , and as such we move from act to act , with little to no substance . A Thriller uses the elements of suspense, tension and excitement, none of which appears in the movie. However being a Heist movie, we continue down a road , "whodunit" and where is the money ?

Angelina Jolie plays the role of a typical European trend-setter , set out on a road for love, or is it revenge, for Alexander Pearce. The character is cold, unfeeling and never too bothered . Hence the audience is unable to believe that there any real love between her and the mystery man. So should she run into him , would she embrace him or kill him ?

Johnny Depp plays the role of the victim, a Wisconsin math teacher, an innocent by-stander brought into their world of criminal activity, only to fall in love with the leading lady. But again Angelina's cold personality brings the relationship on screen, to the high-school behavior of "prom queen" and the "nerd" .

As the film continues, and INTERPOL and the MAFIA get involved, she abandons him to his mundane life, but having been bitten by the love bug, he must come to her rescue. Laughable and stupid , is actually what it comes to. The Knight in Shinning Armour syndrome fails , thus the audience disappointment in the ending .
